Autism Academy
Fifth - Eighth Grade
The Autism Academy at Palmetto Christian was design to meet the needs of students with autism who require an individualized approach to learning. The program provides small class size, hands-on-learning, individualized instructions, group collaboration, sensory breaks, and allows students to have their paraprofessionals with them on site. The program also offers individualized educational therapy and remediation on all subjects. Students are mainstreamed in art, music, chapel, and recreational classes. A team approach is essential to meet the needs of the student, therefore, all professionals working with the students will meet regularly to assess, revise, and establish goals and objectives for learning.
Search and Teach
Kindergarten - First Grade
The goal of this program is to establish a preventive therapeutic program that addresses the growing need for intervention with students that experience difficulty learning. We believe that early detection of at-risk students is crucial in assisting them in achieving their maximum academic potential later in life.
Handwriting without Tears
Kindergarten - Fifth Grade
The goal of this program is to assist students in the area of fine motor skills and penmanship. The program provides a multisensory approach to address handwriting problems in our students. It also assists in assessing and detecting the presence of dysgraphia at a young age.
Educational Therapy
Second - Twelfth Grade
Educational Therapy is offered to students who have been diagnosed with a learning disability. This program is certified by the National Institute of Learning Development (NILD) and its main goal is to target the student’s deficit areas (auditory processing, visual processing, motor, etc.) in order for the student to become an active and independent learner. Student’s therapy sessions are scheduled individually twice a week.
Executive Function Coaching
Elementary - Twelfth
Through the enrollment of this program, students will learn self-regulation, time management, organizational skills, and other important abilities that will enable them to become successful in any area of their lives.
Reading Intervention
First - Twelfth Grade
The Reading Rx program is formulated to assist students that have been identified to have a deficit in the area of reading. The program will identify, assess, and intervene with basic reading skills in an individual and group setting to assist the student improve academic performance.
Math Remediation
First - Twelfth Grade
The goal of the Math Rx program is to assist students that have being identified to have a deficit in the area of math. The program will identify, assess, and intervene with basic math skills in a group setting to assist the student improve academic performance and strengthen number sense, develop math fluency, and enhance problem solving skills.
